COWS
Painting any animal means capturing something of the inner character and the context they are in. Besides correct proportion, mass, and the endless variations in their head to hoof hair, the painter has to tease out the true sense of ‘aliveness’. The eyes can play an important role. How does the cow look at you? Are they curious, feeling trepidation, or do they want to simply keep munching on grass? Trying to paint their inner intent, outwardly expressed in their movement, as a still moment on a canvas, means one has to really observe closely for a while, memorize some of these moments and try to express them with full vigor in paint!
