Biography

Dutch-born and Vermont-based, Brigit Krans is a painter celebrated for her evocative land and townscapes. Mastering oils and watercolors, she captures the soul of a place with bold impressionistic strokes alternated with intricate detail.

Awarded early recognition in the Netherlands, Krans draws inspiration from her great-uncle, a renowned painter and sculptor. A former performing artist with a Master’s from City University London (UK), Krans lived abroad for two decades, contributing to global art scenes in Tanzania, Cambodia, Indonesia and The Middle East before focusing on painting full-time in 2014.

Primarily self-taught, Krans’ work has graced international exhibitions and earned critical acclaim, solidifying her as a rising voice as a contemporary landscapist. Krans has exhibited at The Current in Stowe, VT, Bryan Gallery in Jeffersonville, VT, Stone Valley Arts in Poultney, VT and the McClure Gallery in Montreal, CA.

Most recently, Brigit curated her solo exhibition, featuring twenty eight paintings, at the Island Arts Gallery in South Hero, VT. Her work has been reviewed by The Islander newspaper with an extensive interview by Michael Frett. Brigit also featured with a three-page spread in The Limburger newspaper in The Netherlands and was interviewed by arts journalist Ronald Colee. Brigit’s paintings are held by enthusiastic private collectors in the US and abroad.
