Pencil & Pen - Works on Paper

Artwork on paper is increasingly popular with audiences around the world. Detailed drawings, loose sketches in preparation for painting or sketchbooks exercises all comprise an artist’s highly personal, often internal visual expression. Quick sketches or try-outs with high energy mark-making can reveal something of the true nature of an artist’s way of handling a subject and this can be appealing in a manner that may not be fully available in a finished painted rendition. Think of Van Gogh’s mass volume of drawings and sketches, look for his interest in his favorite subjects and what he wanted to harness with these drawings. His works on paper and those of Picasso, as just two examples, show the significance of their ultimate finished paintings as well as the journey towards these and the journey is life!
